Lionwood Kinsale's Lad, is a traditional, one of a kind, foundation stallion who's accomplishments place him on track to become the most acclaimed RID stallion in North America. Affectionately known as "Angus," he impresses everyone who meets him. He is consistenly praised for his wonderful Irish Draught temperament by friends, strangers, and professionals whether he is at home on the farm or out in the show ring. At his stallion inspection in Illinois he was the only stallion passed by well respected Irish judges Marily Power and Padraig Fitzpatrick. He received a score of "excellent" for his temperament, and was passed with a smile from the judges. With his top of the line breeding, excellent movement, and textbook conformation, Angus has already brought home numerous blue ribbons and championships at state, regional, and national shows. At the age of three, he already had a terrific work ethic and mental maturity that promised much from this young stallion.
Pedigree. Angus is by O'Leary's Irish Diamond R.I.D., a fully approved, performance tested stallion from the well known King of Diamond's line, who is arguably the most famous sire of show jumpers world wide. His stock have jumped at the international level for almost every country with riders such as Nelson Pessoa, Ian Miller, and David Broome. "Irish" is also the product of a very successful mare family descending from the Gortlee daughter Black Beauty. This family has produced numerous superb broodmares and several RID stallions. Irish has competed successfully at the Prix St. George level on the competitive Flordia cirucit and is also a winner in the open jumpers.
Angus' dam, Bonnie Belle Supreme R.I.D., is almost a complete outcross, free of the King of Diamonds and Pride of Shaunalara lines that have come to dominate the breed. Her sire, Lake View Pride, was a son of the Grade A Irish show jumper Western Pride, out of a rare Dove II mare, which are uncommon bloodlines, especially in North America. "Bonnie's" dam, Dark Glen, was a successful show mare and was purchased in Ireland (in foal with Bonnie) for what was a record breaking price for an Irish Draught broodmare. Bonnie, who was one of the first Registered Irish Draught mares imported to the United States, is a very traditional mare with 9 1/2 inches of bone and outstanding movement. She is currently the dam of three R.I.D mares (two of which are full sisters to Angus) and the granddam of one R.I.D. mare. She is a consistent producer of top quality Irish Draught foals.
